Papers from the inaugural conference of the Australian Baptist
Research Forum held in Jan 2005 have been published. The conference
topic was Leadership and Baptist Church Governance, and it was
held at Morling College Sydney, January 14-16, with Dr Derek Tidball,
Principal of London School of Theology as the keynote speaker.
He gave three papers on the topic from biblical, historical and
contemporary perspectives. Dr Don McLellan discussed whether congregational
government was biblical, David Brown on elders and Belina Groves
and Kristine Morrison on women and lay leadership. Dr Les Ball
and Laurie Guy assisted by Martin Sutherland spoke on leadership
trends in Queensland and New Zealand and a resource paper on leadership
from the Global Interaction Missiological Advisory Committee was
also presented. In the published volume, edited by Dr Graeme Chatfield
these papers are supplemented by study questions.
