Freedom for the Journey

The Center for Baptist Heritage & Studies located at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia USA has produced a new church resource entitled
Freedom for the Journey. Intended for individual or group use, Freedom for the Journey examines various aspects of freedom as related to Baptists.

The new resource was written by Dr. Phyllis Rodgerson Pleasants, formerly director of the Institute for Baptist and Anabaptist Studies at the International Baptist Theological Seminary at Prague and currently professor of church history at Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. The 80-page book is enhanced with a PowerPoint CD for use by a group teacher or facilitator.

Copies may be ordered at 9.95 (US$) for the book or 18.95 for the book with CD. Please add $6 for overseas delivery.

For the Living of These Days
Last fall the Center published For the Living of These Days...Responses to Terrorism, a
collection of 65 sermons by Virginia Baptist ministers as delivered on the Sunday following the terrorist attacks of September 11. All proceeds from the sales of the books have been sent to the Virginia Baptist Disaster Relief ministry which furnished meals and cleaned apartments at ground zero in NYC in the weeks and months following the attack.

A limited number of the books are still available at $10 US plus $8 for shipping.

Entitled Seeds of Hope
Forthcoming from the Center is a 300-page book focused upon Liberia. Entitled Seeds of Hope, the book is an anthology of historical and contemporary history of Baptist life and work in Liberia, the long friendship between Virginia Baptists and Liberians, and a collection of 22 sermons on the message of hope. All proceeds from the Liberia book will benefit the Liberia Cattle Project, a ministry of Virginia Baptists, which seeks to place livestock in Liberia. The Liberia books will sell for $10 US plus $8 for shipping.
